Beta Club

Coordinator: Robyn Peters

Description: Elementary Beta Club is an educational youth organization that prepares today's students to be tomorrow's leaders. We recognize high academic achievement, promote character and social responsibility, encourage service involvement in the school and community, foster leadership skills, and provide a setting for students to develop interpersonal relationship skills. 

National Junior BETA Club Mission Statement:

To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students. 

 

Achievement: Recognizing and honoring high academic achievement 

Character:  Preparing students for life and empowering them to be successful

Leadership:  Developing the leaders of tomorrow

Service:  Demonstrating our motto: Let Us Lead by Serving Others

Meeting Time & Location: Thursdays at 3:00 pm after school.

Member Qualifications:

4th or 5th grade student

Maintain an A/B classroom average.

Continue to model the character of integrity, leadership, service, and academic achievement. 

Complete 1 BETA Club sponsored community service project per academic year (3 hours minimum).

Submit service hours by the due date predetermined by the sponsor. 

Be actively present at all BETA Club meetings (2 unexcused absences per academic year).

Robotics

Coordinator: Alisha Earl

Description: Robotics Club is a team oriented club. Students work together in teams to build and program a robot to compete in competitions against other schools. Students are provided rules and regulations to help make decisions on robot designs and programming.

Meeting Time & Location: Wednesdays after school in the media center

Member Qualifications: Students on the robotics team must demonstrate a strong work ethic, good problem solving skills, good communication skills, and great behavior. They must also be in good academic standing with recommendations from their teachers.

Battle of the Books

Coordinator: Liz Ramsey

Description: Elementary Battle of the Books (EBOB) is a program that encourages reading. EBOB is essentially a book club that competes. Each team consists of no more than 12 fourth and fifth graders who battle against other elementary schools within the district. During competition students are asked questions based on plot, characters, and setting of each of the 15 books.

Meeting Time & Location: We meet every Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Member Qualifications: Any student in 4th or 5th grade that is in good academic standing and committed to fulfilling the following student responsibilities:

1. Must be a student in grades 4-5.

2. Read ALL the books and prepare for the competition.

3. Practice teamwork and good sportsmanship.

4. Attend practice sessions.

SES Cheer Team

Coordinator: Tiara Willliams

Description: SES Cheer team is an enthusiastic spirit team. Students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade are able to join the club at the beginning of the school year. SES Cheer encourages school spirit, builds friendships, collaborates with other teams in the county, learns basic cheer skills, and supports school activities all while instilling self-confidence.

Meeting Time & Location: Wednesdays after school in room 104 from 2:45pm-4:15pm

Member Qualifications: Students on the SES Cheer team must have no office referrals/ class actions or suspensions to remain on the team. Students cannot be bounced more than 1 time a month. Additionally, students must not be below a C average in any class at all times.

Soulful Movement 

Coordinator:  Shamika Murphy

Description: Soulful Movement is a dance club. The students meet to practice and learn choreography for dance routines. The students perform at school and county events.

Meeting Time & Location:  Tuesdays after school in Ms. Murphy’s classroom

Member Qualifications:  Must be able to attend practices, willingness to learn, and have a positive behavior and attitude during school hours and practices.
